According to the UN, Israel Wants 1.1 Million Residents Of Gaza To Leave In The Following 24 Hours.

Isreal has requested that 1.1 million people living in northern Gaza leave within the next 24 hours and migrate south, according to Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN secretary-general, who verified this to NBC News.

"The United Nations considers it impossible for such a movement to take place without devastating humanitarian consequences," added the statement.

The action raises the possibility that Israel is preparing to launch its ground offensive into the Palestinian territory to hunt down Hamas fighters whom the Jewish state has vowed to destroy.

The entire Gazan population north of Wadi Gaza was instructed to move to southern Gaza "within the next 24 hours," the Israeli military announced.
The UN and the Department of Safety and Security in Gaza were notified by the Israeli military before midnight local time.

That is approximately half the population of the Gaza Strip at 1.1 million individuals.

All UN employees as well as people seeking safety in UN buildings like hospitals, clinics, and schools received the same directive.
