A CHRISTIAN VERSUS A CHURCH GOER

A Christian is one who behaves like Christ to be liked by Christ. A churchgoer is one who pretends to behave like Christ to be liked by his fellow Christians.

Christians go to church or are involved in church activities in order to please Christ; churchgoers go to church or are involved in church activities in order to please the preacher or brethren who have been pressuring them on a daily basis to come to church or engage in church activities.

Christians accept defeat (apologize) in a heated argument, whether or not they are at fault, in order to foster peace. And they also forgive easily when they are offended. Whereas churchgoers are always right, and they always think that they are above correction and mistakes, but they have forgotten that apostle Peter was corrected by apostle Paul the new convert because he did what was wrong (Galatians 2:11). What baffled me is that the apostle Peter received the correction without arguing proudly that the Church of Christ came into existence through him (Matthew 16:18).

Christians, amidst their tight schedules, will still see the need to come worship God on Sunday. But churchgoers will neglect the gathering of brethren together simply because they forgot to iron their clothes on Saturday.

Christians always do what makes God happy by doing His work, while churchgoers do what makes them happy by irritating God with their God-offending attitudes.

Christians always fear God and keep His commandments, but churchgoers only fear God and refuse to keep His commandments.

If you are a Christian, please read Philippians 2:5, Matthew 5:6–12, and be encouraged. And if you are a churchgoer, please read Galatians 6:7 and Matthew 7:21 in order to see reasons why you should repent and amend your ways.
