Despite The Jaida Parker Confusion, Jade Cargill Will Maintain Her Name In The WWE

Jade Cargill is a WWE Superstar, that much is certain. Cargill came in the Performance Centre this week, and WWE announced that she had a contract in place. The former TBS Champion immediately started working on responding to some of the often asked questions, such as why she joined WWE and which Superstars she would most like to face. Few WWE signees are given the opportunity to preserve their name, which was also confirmed by Cargill.

Jade Cargill Will Keep Her Name

Cargill said on The Ringer Wrestling Show that, despite joining an organisation that often requires new hires to choose a new ring name, it was crucial to her that she preserve her current moniker. She has only ever competed as Jade Cargill, and that also happens to be her real name. It helps when it comes to activities you engage in outside of the firm and after you've gone if you can persuade WWE to allow you to use it on-screen.

Consider figures like Brock Lesnar and John Cena. Since neither man had his name changed at any point during their time in the WWE, they had an advantage because their names were already well-known. Lesnar in the UFC and Cena in Hollywood. Not that Cargill is planning on leaving WWE before her tenure there has even begun, but it is a significant deal to be able to maintain your name or a name you have used in another business.

The Jaida Parker Trademark

There was rumour that Cargill's name would change to Jaida Parker in WWE prior to the deal being official. WWE registering the name Jaida Parker as a trademark is what started that rumour. It's a sensible step to take, however even though the name of a Superstar who will soon make their debut has been determined, Cargill is not that Superstar. In the WWE, Jaida Parker has taken the place of Tiana Caffey, who has not yet made her NXT TV debut.

It is undoubtedly the proper decision to let Cargill maintain her WWE persona. Although Cargill is coming from AEW and WWE probably doesn't want to admit that's a huge deal, the amount of attention this signing has garnered demonstrates how big of an issue Cargill's arrival is. I understand why WWE wants to change a wrestler's name when they contract so they can hold the rights to it. Everyone would have scoffed at her debut under a new name, and Cargill's stock may have even taken a hit.
