Because I was born of rape, my aunts called me Bastard. - Helen Paul

Tatafo, a Nigerian comedian, has shared how she overcame rejection to transform it into a driving force that transformed her life, following a rape.

She revealed this in a post on her Instagram page on Friday, talking about the shame associated with being born of rape and how her aunts would constantly call her a bastard.

In addition, Helen reminded her fans that she had gone from being a comedian to a professor in the US and asked them not to let rejection deter them.

In my experience, it differed from what the Yoruba refer to as akanda omo, or a special child, yet some of us are unable to accept rejection, and others of us are unaware that the words we speak might cause someone to feel rejected forever.
